What Is Lyft Black?
Lyft Black is the top tier in the Lyft app. Lyft describes it as a premium ride with high-end black cars and top-rated drivers. It comes in two sizes:
- Lyft Black: a high-end sedan for up to 4 riders, black outside with leather seats.
- Lyft Black SUV: a large SUV for up to 6 riders. People also search for it as the “black truck Lyft.”
You may still see the old names Lux, Lux Black and Lux Black XL. Lyft retired them, and its help center now uses Black and Black SUV. It costs well above a standard Lyft. The extra money buys a nicer car and a top-rated driver, and the trip takes the same time.
Lyft lists both Black and Black SUV for New York City. Here every driver needs a license from the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission, and every car needs TLC plates.
